Sequester to Cut Tuition Assistance and Tricare for Troops!

Ripped from the pages of Live, from the Catacombs:

Sequester to Ensure Truth of Sec Kerry’s “Troops are Dumb” Comment

I joined the Army back in 1999 for several reasons. At 19, even after three semesters of college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Staying in school at that point would have been a waste of my time and a waste of my parents’ money. So when the recruiter talked to me about job training, adventure, and benefits (that included education) it sounded too good to be true. And to soldiers who are currently serving, it apparently is too good to be true.

Education is one of the main reasons young soldiers give for joining the military. An incredible number of soldiers receive degrees from the Associates level up through the graduate level using the highly successful Tuition Assistance program to access thousands of online courses through schools all over the United States. And I think we would all agree that educating our soldiers could prove to be beneficial in regards to national defense.

Enter sequester, stage left. Yeah. From the White House. And if that’s not enough, in order to ensure that the evil Republicans (who in this case did nothing more than cave and let the petulant child-in-chief have his way)get what’s coming to them, an e-mail from the White House directed at least one department to do whatever was necessary to ensure that the fears “mongered” by the administration concerning sequester cuts were realized by the American people.

It stands to reason that a true leader would look for the spending cuts that would do the least damage to the American people. It stands to reason that a true leader would cut wasteful spending first. Like grant money for shrimp on treadmills, cocaine for monkeys, or – oh, I don’t know – excessive golf outings. But not our President. He figures that the best people to absorb the sequester cuts are our soldiers. The guys who put their lives on the line everyday to keep his golf courses safe. The guys who, unless they finish their educations and become officers, will probably spend most of their lives earning a salary that barely qualifies as “above the poverty line.” The guys who, whether they like the President or not, would step in front of a bullet for him because they understand the meaning of words like “honor,” “duty,” and “leadership.”

A memo from DoD Comptroller Robert Hale dated March 5, 2013, went out to each service branch, strongly suggesting that all new enrollments to the Tuition Assistance program be placed on hold. The Marine Corps has since announced that they will also be pulling all Tuition Assistance funding for current students at the end of this semester.

You’d think this administration couldn’t sink any lower. And you’d be wrong. One possibility for further cuts is TRICARE, the healthcare program for active duty soldiers and their families.

But that’s not even the best part! What is the best part, you ask? This President can still be the hero! How is this possible you ask? Well…

If these and other cuts are implemented, as directed, in such a way as to make them as acutely felt as possible, Americans will cry out for relief. The President, with the help of a complicit media, has already been mildly successful in convincing the public that the sequester can be blamed on the Republicans. The minute he signs into law any eventual compromise that brings relief, it will be a fairly simple matter to convince the public that he is the author of their salvation.

In the real world, when one party intentionally injures another party for the sole purpose of then swooping to the rescue, it’s a mental condition (Munchausen by proxy). When the President does it to the entire population of the United States, it’s apparently grounds for reelection.

JAY CARNEY’S VICIOUS, BLOOD THIRSTY COMMENT: “IF EVEN ONE CHILD’S LIFE IS SAVED…”

Ripped from the pages of Blogodidact:

Jay Carney’s vicious, blood thirsty comment: “If even one child’s life is saved…”

A quick rant in reply to this ass of a Press Secretary, Jay Carney, speaking on gun control:

“JAY CARNEY: If these things were easy, they would have been achieved already. If renewal of the assault weapons ban were easily accomplished, it would not need renewing because it would have happened already. The fact of the matter is the president is committed to pushing these proposals. He is not naive about the challenges that exist, but he believes that, as he said yesterday, if even one child’s life can be saved by the actions we take here in Washington, we must take those actions.”

What an unbelievably vicious, blood thirsty thing to say.

“…if even one child’s life can be saved by the actions we take here in Washington, we must take those actions…”

Really. Why? Because one child’s life is saved? THAT calculus is what you propose to drive the laws that will govern your lives, America?

So you’re going to get into a pissing match of tallying children’s corpses? U.S. Grant’s “terrible arithmetic”  as the basis of law?!

What do I mean?

What if someone proposes a law that promises to save two children’s lives? Must you take those actions as well? What if it conflicts with the plan you proposed? What if they can show more dead bodies would result from your plan than theirs? Do you then get into a counting match, counting children’s bodies… what then, the one that produces fewer corpses, wins?

What if I propose the immediate slaughter of everyone who has ever shown a tendency towards improper behavior towards children… anyone who has ever spanked, beaten or leered at a child… that would undoubtedly save more than one child’s life… must we put that action into law as well?

Is that the sort of life you want for your child?

You cannot make decisions regarding people’s right to live their own lives, based upon some utilitarian calculus – such a life would not be worthy even of rising to the level of being nasty, brutish and short.

To be civilized, to live a life worth living, requires that you live your life under the rule of law, but not just any set of laws will do. The Rule of Law must be comprised of laws whose foundations and purposes are derived from the need to uphold and defend the Individual Rights of its citizens, and among those rights they must uphold and defend, are the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - and the Right to defend that life, from all threats, foreign and domestic, is a requirement of all the rest, or they must become meaningless whims and nothing more.

Anything less than that will soon be reduced to one of counting corpses to justify any evil imaginable… though for the greater good, of course.

OBAMACARE EXCHANGE ACTION ITEM: CALL YOU STATE SENATOR!

REPOST FROM CRY LIBERTY

1. The Obamacare exchange is NOT simply an online resource for shopping insurance. It sets up new restrictions and penalties that will reduce your options. Some smaller insur

ance companies have already gone out of business — Obamacare will leave only a few huge insurace companies with monopolistic protections.

2. An exchange set up by the state does not give us control. HB609, the 2011 bill to set up a Missouri exchange included at least 40 references to federal laws or bureaucracies that dictate virtually every meaningful aspect of the exchange. Click for a marked up copy of HB609.

And here’s the Missouri First analysis of that bill.

Here are a couple of very good articles by the Cato Institute’s Michael F. Cannon pointing out the need to fight the exchange:

Action Item:

Call or email each Republican senator. Time is very short as they will be discussin this Friday and Saturday. Tell them the people of Missouri don’t want them to set up an Obamacare exchange any more than they want the governor to. The sentiment behind the Prop E vote applies to them, too!

URGENT: Patriots At The Ready: Rally At #MOSEN Debate

Ripped from the pages of Cry Liberty:

rc=”http://cryliberty.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/wpid-1-facebook_1029778759.jpg?w=500″ alt=”image” />

Unions are organizing to rally for McCaskill:

Patricia Bynes @Patricialicious

Rally for Sen @ClaireCMc tomorrow from 5pm-6:30pm Clayton High School before the debate #breakingstlnews

This is an urgent alert for all hands on deck as we counter the pro-McCaskill unions.

We recommend that children do not attend this event.

We need a show of numbers to counter the narratives they will try to set OUTSIDE the debate hall. We can’t let the headlines say that a large, pro-McCaskill contingency showed up. They will bear signs about rape and the “war on women.” This is the battle.

Who can commit? Please tell your friends and bring as many as you can. Bring posterboard; we have markers, let’s counter this demonstration.

We need numbers behind our voice. When Westboro came through here, they brought 3…WE brought 300! These are the numbers we need and more. We are at a “do or die” moment in our nation’s history. This is a battle we cannot lose. This is a pivotal point in our fight to restore Missouri to the people and the Senate to the righteous. Dress warm. Be sure wherever you park, you have two ways out. Stand strong and we will see you later today!
