If you are on Twitter, hopefully you follow my friend Dana Loesch. Over the past year or so she has been getting pretty popular with her radio show on 97.1. So of course she is going to get some grief from the left and progressives in this country. She is for limited government and personal responsibility, everything the left is against. But some have gone over the line and have called for Dana to get raped, death threats and various other acts of violence against her. So of course her husband, Chris came to her defense. And the oh so tolerant Left could not let that be. So last night Chris was suspended by Twitter 3 times from people on the left gaming the system and sending in spam reports on Chris.
And that is what I have not seen in a long time, conservatives coming together. The #FreeChrisLoesch hashtag shot up in the trending in the US and eventually made it to I think #2 or #3 world wide. I have not seen anything like this since basically the Obamacare Bill. And I do think this may have surpassed that in energy on twitter. It was a sight to see. After getting his account released again, it happened again and the hashtag #FreeChrisLoeschAgain trended up just as the original #FreeChrisLoesch hashtag did.
So why am I saying all this???? Well, as we have seen last night, if those on the right get their minds together, we can really accomplish and spread the message out. For far too long the right in this country has been fractured and this primary season has shown the divide. The vitriol of all the various camps in the GOP Primary has deflated any momentum we have had with the Tea Party and the 2010 elections. We have Newt fans going after Mitt fans, and Paul fans going after Santorum and everything in between. It was really sickening to see. I know I am not an angel, but some of the stuff I have seen about fellow Conservatives and those in the GOP is astounding. And this is not to say I am against debate and for looking into candidates past. But the amount of out and out idiocy and vitriol is self defeating and will only lead to defeat.
But this is not about the elections or even the GOP itself. This is about how we as Conservatives and Libertarian leaning Conservatives can come together and defeat the Progressive Left in this country. As shown with the #FreeChrisLoesch hashtag campaign, we can project our voices far and wide. I know all of us are not going to agree on everything, that is absolutely impossible, just as having a perfect candidate is impossible. But we can defeat the left and Own The Narrative. But only as long as we do not go after each other’s throats on every little disagreement.
We need to go after the real enemy. Not the circular firing squad we have now. We have a real opportunity to defeat the Progressive Left this election, and only we can mess it up. We need to come together. We need to win back the Senate, and keep the House (hopefully gain seats) and yes win the White House. Even with Mitt Romney who I am no big fan of. This election is more than just about one man, well unless we are talking about Obama, it is about stopping the big turn to the LEFT. I know we all want everything to change overnight, but that is not going to happen. We have to stop Obama and his progressive band of misfits now any way we can.
