The Initiative Project (T.I.P.)
”Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state.” – Thomas Jefferson
Gateway Grassroots Initiative is formed around the ideal that every American citizen has the personal privilege and responsibility of becoming a “minuteman” for their country in various ways. Many are well on their way to doing this, through their blogs, to running for office, becoming a precinct captain, running for their local school board, organizing petitions, fighting for voter integrity. We want to help empower more conservatives in our area to tackling the problems we face in our region. We want everyone to become their own epicenter of activism.
Gateway Grassroots Initiative is built around action items (T.I.P.s) with the purpose of promoting conservatism. We want individuals to take the initiative in their own lives, communities, state, and country. Individuals who submit initiatives are welcome to take point on their project and see it through to completion. We’ll also foster conservative fellowship with social events designed to be celebrations of accomplishments.
While Gateway Grassroots Initiative encourages individuals to participate in candidate campaigns, we are uninterested in endorsing or singularly promoting candidates, instead choosing to focus on ideas.
In the coming days, we will be rolling out our first initiatives. If you would like to submit an initiative for consideration, please email us at info@gatewaygrassroots.com with the subject heading: The Initiative Project.
Thanks,
The GGI Team
The idea should be to get Constitutional, limited government, fiscally responsible candidates elected to office. Otherwise, what is the point. And wasn’t that what the Tea Party stands for?
The Tea Party did not begin as a partisan movement. It organized to further the three core values of fiscal responsibility, Constitutionally limited government and free markets you referenced above. Anyone who supports any party or candidate is welcome at GGI as long as they want to further our Mission and Core Values. There are other groups which have endorsed and worked GOTV for candidates, some of them very successfully. We are not looking to duplicate their efforts. We are looking to fill what we see as a void in conservative grassroots activism in the area. Our mission and means are clear, if you disagree with what we are about, then I would recommend working with a group that shares your point of view, rather than trying to change ours. Thanks, The GGI Team
We didn’t need much oazinrgation for the love-ins in the sixties when we would all meet in the local parks. We still managed to get the issues of the day discussed.I feel the reason behind most of our troubles and the need for TEA Parties is the government’s ability to print up whatever money it wants to get their way.Maybe this will help make the danger of fiat money clear.Imagine you and me are setting across from each other. We create enough money to represent all of the world’s wealth. Each one of us has one SUPER Dollar in front of him.You own half of everything and so do I.I’m the government though. I get bribed into creating a Central Bank. You’re not doing what I want you to be doing so I print up myself eight more SUPER Dollars to manipulate you with. All of a sudden your SUPER Dollar only represents one tenth of the wealth of the world! That isn’t the only thing though. You need to get busy and get to work because YOU’VE BEEN STIFFED with the bill for the money I PRINTED UP to get YOU TO DO what I WANTED.That to me represents what has been happening to the economy, and us, and why so many of our occupations just can’t keep up with the fake money presses. They have been beating us with our own stick!!!!1
Encouraging. I am often spooked when I see a heavy emphasis on mixing religion into something like this; I don’t see that at all here.
If people generally had an idea of the costs involved in the gazillion public projects (which are so often obscured) and what a bond really is, I think they’d naturally be repelled from the never-ending expansion of the state. I will think on this angle.
While I’m sure OWS can peel off a nembur of TP supporters, the actual TP itself is beholden to various institutional concerns that will actively sabotage any potential relationship to OWS. Just look at the Venn Diagram above. On the OWS side, you see a collection of small-d democratic constituencies and they’ve locked out the Democratic Party. On the TP side, you see corporations, the GOP and all the problematic institutions that have done so much damage to this country over the last few decades. Given the top-down hierarchical nature of the TP, how does one find common ground with such a group? They will insist on control of the agenda, for their own purposes. They will also insist OWS give up any notions of justice or eliminating corruption, for starters. It also happens to be the case their agenda is the exact opposite of OWS’s. They say they hate bailouts, but how much banking money lies in their coffers? Their media outlets are all saying, If you don’t have a job, it’s YOUR FAULT. Don’t blame Wall Street, blame the Kenyan interloper instead. If anything, I would expect OWS to draw some people away from the TP, which is why their leadership is so openly hostile to OWS, for the most part. CNN and Fox have to attack OWS to keep TPers from bolting. The Kochs et al are probably rather worried about an exodus from their ranks, so they have to maintain conflict with OWS. They’ve no doubt seen the polls, which show the TP is seriously unpopular.Where is the middle ground between small-d democratic constituencies and Right-Wing Authoritarianism? Perhaps given a better alternative, some TPers will bolt, because they aren’t really Right-Wing Authoritarian Followers. This seems to be happening in Boston, for example.
Oh yeah, fablouus stuff there you!
Looking good!
I’m looking forward to the details.
